Homeschool Central

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using Homeschool Central. By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Who We Are

Homeschool Central is an online platform connecting Australian homeschool, unschool and world school families with local classes, camps, events, businesses and academic programs. We act as a facilitator and marketplace. We are not the organiser, employer, or supervisor of any business, class, event, or program listed on the platform.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. Family accounts must be held by a parent or legal guardian, who is responsible for all activity under that account, including any bookings made on behalf of their children.

Business accounts must represent a genuine, operating business or individual providing services to homeschool families.

3. Family Membership

Family membership is $12 AUD per year, billed annually via our payment processor, Stripe.
Membership automatically renews each year unless cancelled prior to the renewal date.
You may cancel your membership at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you retain access until then.
Membership unlocks the ability to book and pay for classes, view full contact and location details after booking, access member-only content (including Perks & Discounts and community events), and receive local meetup notifications.
Browsing the platform's public content does not require a paid membership.

4. Business Listings

Standard business listings are $33 AUD per year, billed annually.
Certain early "Founding Partner" businesses may be subject to different pricing arrangements agreed to directly with Homeschool Central. These arrangements are managed outside of the standard in-platform billing flow.
Businesses are responsible for the accuracy of all content submitted, including descriptions, pricing, class times, and contact details.
Homeschool Central reserves the right to review, approve, reject, suspend, or remove any listing at our discretion, including where a listing is inaccurate, inappropriate, or in breach of these Terms.
If a business's subscription payment lapses, their listing may be hidden from public view until payment is resumed.

5. Bookings and Payments

Payments for paid classes are processed securely through Stripe. Homeschool Central does not store your full payment card details.
When you book a paid class, payment is split automatically: the business receives the majority share of the class price, and Homeschool Central retains a commission (currently 10%) as our platform fee. Homeschool Central covers standard payment processing fees on this transaction.
Refunds and cancellations for a specific class or event are governed by the individual business's own policies. Homeschool Central is not the organiser of the class and is not responsible for a business's failure to deliver a class as described.
Where Homeschool Central determines a refund is appropriate (for example, due to a processing error), refunds will be processed back to the original payment method.
Free classes and events do not involve any payment through the platform and are not subject to this section.

6. The Verified Badge

A "Verified" badge on a business listing indicates that the business has self-declared they hold a current Working With Children Check (or equivalent). Homeschool Central does not independently verify this declaration.

Families are encouraged to exercise their own judgement and, where appropriate, independently confirm a business's credentials before booking.

7. Community Events and Meetups

Homeschool Central allows registered families to organise and post community meetups and events. These are organised by individual community members, not by Homeschool Central.

Homeschool Central is not responsible for the conduct of attendees, the safety of a meetup location, or any incident occurring at a community-organised event. Families attend and organise such events at their own discretion and risk.

For events with recurring or regularly scheduled details (such as library storytimes), details are provided by the organiser and may change without notice. Homeschool Central is not responsible for cancellations or changes to recurring events. We recommend confirming directly with the organiser before attending.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Provide false or misleading information on your account or in any listing
Use the platform for any unlawful purpose
Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
Attempt to circumvent the platform's booking or payment systems
Scrape, copy, or misuse content from the platform without permission

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms.

9. User-Submitted Content

By submitting content to Homeschool Central (including listings, event details, perks, or other content), you confirm that you have the right to share it and that it is accurate to the best of your knowledge. You grant Homeschool Central a licence to display this content on the platform.

We reserve the right to moderate, edit, or remove any user-submitted content at our discretion.

10. Third-Party Content and Affiliate Links

Some content on Homeschool Central, including certain academic programs and perks, may include affiliate links. Homeschool Central may earn a commission if you make a purchase through these links, at no additional cost to you. Where this applies, it will be disclosed on the relevant page.

We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or conduct of third-party websites or businesses linked from our platform.

11. Third-Party Names and Trademarks

All company, product, and service names used on this website are for identification purposes only. Use of these names, trademarks, and brands does not imply endorsement.

12. Automated Data Collection

You may not use bots, scrapers, crawlers, or any other automated means to access, extract, or collect data from this website in bulk, including but not limited to business listings, contact information, event details, or any other content, without our express prior written permission. Violation of this clause may result in legal action.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

Homeschool Central acts solely as a facilitator connecting families with independent third-party businesses, event organisers, and program providers.
We do not guarantee the quality, safety, legality, or suitability of any class, event, program, or business listed on the platform.
Homeschool Central is not liable for any loss, damage, injury, or dispute arising from your interactions with businesses, other families, or third parties facilitated through the platform.

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

14. Intellectual Property

The Homeschool Central name, logo, and platform design are the property of Homeschool Central. You may not reproduce or use these without our written permission.

15. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for breach of these Terms, non-payment, or conduct that we consider harmful to the platform or its users. You may close your account at any time through your account settings or by contacting us.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the platform or by email. Continued use of Homeschool Central after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

17. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the platform will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria.
