Our Story

Built by two mums who saw the gap firsthand

One of us is 10 years into homeschooling. The other is exploring what education could look like for her own family.

"Each year, I've watch the same thing happen: a parent finding out about camp two weeks after it, just because they weren't in the right Facebook group that week."

Marit spent eight years as a primary school teacher before homeschooling her own children for the past ten. She's had a history of organising large scale markets, sports days and classes. In the past few years, she's built one of the largest homeschool camp programs in the region for hundreds of local families.

Marnina
"I'd built community platforms before, but never one for this. The gap wasn't obvious to businesses. It was obvious to any parent who'd ever tried to find a Saturday art class."

Marnina has spent eight years building web platforms, including an online directory of over 850 local businesses and a podcast that reached the top 5% most-listened worldwide, and has run her own web development company since 2019. With her own children not yet school-aged, she's still working out what education will look like for her family, which means she's building this platform through the exact same open questions many of our families are asking themselves.

Not another Facebook group. Not a generic listing site. A dedicated, searchable, map-based home for homeschool, unschool and world school families across Australia, and the businesses who want to serve them.

Running and improving a platform like this takes real time and investment. We've worked hard to keep pricing as fair as possible for both families and businesses, while making sure Homeschool Central is here to stay for the long run.

Keep Homeschool Central Accessible

We keep our fees as low as possible so every homeschool family can access this community. Donations help cover the real costs of running and growing the platform, and keep it affordable for those who need it most.
